Angelina Jolie's Maleficent was based on Lady Gaga's forehead horns

Angelina Jolie acted as Maleficent. For this character, she and the makeup team wanted a sharper and stronger angles on her face.

Special-effects makeup artist Rick Baker explained to Allure that they actually used Lady Gaga's forehead horns (Born This Way song) as inspiration, "I thought it didn't make sense for [Jolie] to have bones like [Lady Gaga's], but [Jolie] really liked the idea of something under her skin showing a ridge. So I moved them to her cheekbones, where I thought it would create a more elegant line. If you look closely, they actually follow the line of Maleficent's cowl in the Disney cartoon."

Angelina Jolie felt comfort when she is with refugees

Angelina Jolie spoke to Wall Street Journal that she never impressed with the Los Angeles showbiz environment because she grew up around Hollywood.

Her parents are both actors, Jon Voight and her late mother Marcheline Bertrand. Because of this, she said,  “I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.”

When it comes to refugees, she felt comfort. She explained, "Why do I like spending time with people who’ve survived and are refugees? They’ve confronted so much in life that it brings forward not just strength, but humanity … I realised my closest friends are refugees. Maybe four out of six of the women that I am close to are from war and conflict.”
