Angelina Jolie's mother, Marcheline would write letters to Jolie's characters. 

She shared at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where she received the event's highest honour, the Maltin Modern Master Award, 'My mother would write letters to my characters - Dear Gia, Dear Lisa Rowe, Dear Lara Croft - and for the last 16 years, I haven't had those letters.'

She reflects on what her mother might have written to her role, real-life opera singer Maria Callas, "I try to imagine sometimes what she would write, and she would probably have told Maria that she loved her because Maria had many things but she never had a mother's love".

"I would be absolutely nothing without mine. She passed away many years ago at this time of year, so it's always this weather that reminds me of her".

"And that feeling and that sensibility that makes that actually hard for me is part of what is my work and what connects many artists to their work, and I know I'm not alone in this."

Source tells, "Angelina has carried a lot of pain through the divorce and the winery fight, and you can feel that in her latest work. She is channeling everything in her past, from the divorce from Brad and their Château battle, and she has not been holding back in the way it will come out in her performance."

A source tells Globe, "Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17, “worry like crazy about their mom, to the point where they’ve all agreed never to leave her totally on her own".

"One of them is always around and staying at the house with her."

"Zahara is leading the charge, she’s very organized, but they are all equally invested. Their mom is still the center of their worlds."

Currently Knox, Viv and Pax are currently living at home and keeping an eye on the struggling actress, while Shiloh, Maddox and Zahara have moved out.

Source tells, "In a year or two, it’s likely they will all want to be away at college or just living on their own and when that happens, their plan is to take turns staying with Angie on a schedule".

"Angelina insists this is way over the top, that she is more than fine on her own, but, of course, she is deeply touched that they care so much. It’s also sad that they have to feel this sort of stress, and she blames it on Brad and his relentless hounding of her."

Apart from acting, Jolie will also produce. The script is written by William Day Frank (Susie Searches, Fixation) and the movie will be directed by Eva Sørhaug.

Producer Mark Fasano of Nickel City Pictures said, “People are going to be shocked by what [Angelina] brings with this riveting character. This violent world that Eva and Angelina have crafted is grounded in survival and family led by a mother doing anything and everything within her power to protect her two boys.”

French film actress Garance Marillier talks about working with Angelina Jolie in Couture. 

She tells South China Morning Post, "I grew up with Angelina’s movies, so meeting her on the first day of shooting was a bit intimidating,” Marillier says. “But she was so nice with me, and with all the team, so in the end it was a very natural thing."

Marillier acted as seamstress Christine in Couture and she tells her excitement when she was in the atelier. She shared, "It was crazy to be in the atelier and see how it works. I had the chance to study the books and all the little details and drawings of the dresses – it was so interesting".
