Angelina Jolie revealed that her late mother used to keep books in the oven

During Angelina Jolie's acceptance for Performer Tribute Award for playing opera singer Maria Callas, she tells how her late mother Marcheline Bertrand influence her in the past. 

She shared, "[My mom] took me to the theater. She told me about meeting Tennessee Williams, and she introduced me to the Lee Strasberg Institute, where I would later study. And I now experience the joy of seeing my own daughter love theater and get involved."

Then she tells that her childhood house was filled with many books, saying, "I grew up with a mother who kept books inside the oven because there were more books in our house than shelves in the apartment we had".

"And it was how she solved the problem, while still making sure we were fed. But it was her priority."

Angelina Jolie's son Maddox has become a trained pilot. She shared during her appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon", "I am a pilot. And my son Maddox is training to be a pilot too. He, actually, he is a pilot now."

Jolie, herself, started to learn flying because of Maddox because he is amazed everytime he sees a plane. She got her pilot's license in 2004.

Maddox started his flying lessons in 2017. In 2017, she shared, "He’s quite capable and always takes me by surprise. He’s been practicing flying, then they called me the other day and said, ‘so Mad can go solo,’ and I nearly dropped the phone!".

Jane Fonda has high praise on Angelina Jolie for her role as Maria Callas. She attended a Los Angeles screening of Netflix's Maria at the Ross House.

She said, "She's fabulous. She's really really talented. She hasn't a chance like this since Girl Interrupted. That she owns Maria Callas. She has Maria Callas in her and I met Maria Callas and Angelina captured the sadness and the playfulness at the same time."

Angelina Jolie was asked where she keeps her awards. She told AccessHollywood, "I never put awards out".

Then the interviewer responded, "No?Why not?Any superstitious?".

Jolie replied, "I think, honestly, I never wanted it to be a focus in my house. so, I just. For me, I have a lot of, like I t‌hink I have one thing up, and it's a, it's actually a broken little statue that my kids made when I didn't win something once".

"And they were little, and I came home. There was something for "Unbroken". And I happy to be nominated for anything for directing. And I came home and they had taken this, like old thing and kind of turned it into a little award and gave it to me".

"And that's the one I have up".

The interviewer said, "Thats's so sweet. Proud mama".

Angelina Jolie was asked by "The Sunday Times" about her own biopic. Jolie doesn't like the idea and responded, "That gets the most insane question award".

When you’re a public person and you’re playing [someone else], you’re conscious of how you would hate for somebody to interpret your life or think they understand your life, so we tried to be thoughtful [with Maria]. Let’s hope there isn’t one about my life."

Angelina Jolie talks about violence and relationships while making "Maria". She explained during an interview with The Sunday Times, "They were able to consider the relationships in the film and the violence. Things that sometimes you don’t have the opportunity to discuss with your sons, so I felt fortunate."

Jolie also tells that she puts priority on her children, saying, "Maria didn't have a family, so her work was everything. My work is not everything... Being a parent is everything."

Taking opera singing lessons has become Jolie's form of therapy. She shared, "It was the therapy I didn't realize I needed".

"Singing opera requires you to be as emotionally open as you possibly can be—it's not like singing in the car. It's cathartic. I've never pushed myself or opened myself up in that way, that was daunting."

During an interview with The New York Times, Angelina Jolie was asked about what she has learned after being away from acting for a long time.

She struggled to reply, then later replied, “When you are stripped of so many things that make you feel safe and whole, you really sit with what matters to you and what you want to give every breath in your body for. In the end, I found a lot of softness.”

Then she was asked whether she has found joy. She said, "I don’t know about that. But I hope for it. I hope to find a lightness that I may have lost along the way.”
